To my knowledge this is the only grape leaf on the planet Earth that gave off roots. Is it possible to grow grape vine from a grape leaf. Yes! Tricky, but possible. Wanna proof? Keep reading)

The species is white crunchy Delaware. I've chosen this one because at my house this one is the tastiest. It took about 3 weeks for the first root to sprout. But when it caught on, it took off. First root.

The story and instructions. I wanted to know whether a young grape sprout could give off roots. Put a couple of them into the ground(they withered ), then into water. During the process one leaf broke off and I just kept it half submerged into water. Three weeks into the process some of the sprouts rotted away. But to my surprise the leaf didn't and in fact gave roots. I have a couple of theories why it didn't die.  1. The bottom tip of the leaf stalk was partially broken which gave the water a chance to go deeper into the stem of the leaf, providing it with enough water. 2. Half of the leaf was submerged into water,  which provided enough water. The part of the leaf which was submerged into water acted as a temporary root, supplying water to the rest of the plant.  3. You must change the water every 3-5 days, and wash the leaf itself. 4. If you had a 24 hour artificial light, probably it would have grown faster.

Історія та інструкції. Я просто хотів дізнатися чи молодий виноградний живець здатен дати коріння. Помістив декілька з них в землю (відразу висохли), потім у воду. Під-час процесу, один листочок відірвався і я тримав його напів-зануреним у воду. Три тижні згодом, деякі з живців згнили. Але на мій подив, листок не згнив, і навіть пустив коріння. В мене є декілька теорій чому він не помер. 1 Нижній кінчик листяного стебельця був частково поламаним, що дало воді зайти глибше вверх по стебельцю, давши всій рослині достатньо води. 2. Половина листочка була понурена у воду, що забезпечило рослину достатньою кількістю води. Та частина, яка була понуреною діяла як тимчасовий корінь. 3. Ви повинні міняти воду кожні 3-5 днів і мити сам лист. 4. Якщо у вас є 24-годинне штучне освітлення, можливо, він ріс би набагато швидше.

Logistics. When choosing a leaf, go for a 2/3 of the size of your hand. When the time comes, you should be able to transport it. If you choose glass bottle, the leaf should fit neatly in. If too big, you can easily break the stalk when taking it out. Also, when planted outside it won't hold form, and just collapse, not being used to survive only from the "dry" soil.

Логістика. Обираючи листочок, оберіть 2/3 від величини вашою руки. При транспортування буде легше. Якщо ви оберете склянку, листок має поміститися. Якщо він буде занадто великим, виймаючи, ви можете пошкодити стебло. Також, на вулиці, великий не зможе тримати форму, бо не звик до "сухого" ґрунту.

Note. The leaf received a lot of sunlight, my windows face east and west. So in the morning it (and sprouts) spent time on the East side and afternoon in the West. Even a couple of times it spent the night under a UV lamp. The more the better.

Примітка. Листочок отримував багато сонця, мої вікна виходять як на захід так і на схід. Вранці листочок (і живці) грілися на Сході, а після обіду на Заході(на двох стільцях сиділи)) ). І навіть, декілька разів в ночі "грілися " під Ультра Фіолетовою лампою. Чи більше, тим краще.

Advantages. Let's say you have only one vine and don't want to spend years waiting for a result. If I had known all the nuances and started earlier(March), by now I would have had a decent vine growing. The usual method takes too much time, because the brunch has no way to feed itself, spending energy growing roots. But the leaf or a young sprout(teaser) does have the means to provide it with energy, and roots grow really fast.

Переваги. Припустимо у вас лише одна лоза і ви не хочете втрачати рік, що побачити результат розмноження. Якщо б я знав всі нюанси і почав раніше (в березні), то зараз я б мав досить не погану лозу. Звичайні методи займають досить багато часу, тому що гілка не має чим себе живити, бо витрачає енергію на ріст коріння. Але листочок і молодий живець спроможні забезпечити енергією, тому коріння ростуть досить швидко.

But what happened to it. Bad news, I've made a huge mistake, by planting it in the direct sunlight, the roots just dried out. I know, for certain, if I had planted it in the shade it would have lived. And I know this for certain because of the next experiment I conducted.

Але, що трапилось з листочком. Погані новини, я скоїв незворотну помилку, посадивши листок під пряме сонячне проміння, коріння просто всохло. Я знаю, напевно, якщо б я посадив в тінь, він би вижив. І знаю я це, бо провів ще один експеримент
